Bushnell Speedster II

Hello,

I purchased a Bushnell Speedster II today and I am having issues reading baseballs or anything else. I put 2 C batteries in the pulled the trigger pointing at the wall and it read 87. Then I had my son throw baseballs and it read between 87 and 88mph. This is total wrong cause he is only 11. Next I opened the battery compartment and checked the batteries and it started to work fine. A few hours later we took it to pitching practice and it work for 50 pitches but now it just reads 37 or 38 mph no matter what I point it at.

I am thinking I got a defective unit. I have even changed the batteries three times. Any ideas?
