Hi,

Quick question, I live on a very busy main street in my town. Cars are near reckless driving down our road, so I was wondering if there is a way to transmit or emulate RADAR frequencies in hopes of slowing down traffic?

Are handheld radar guns expensive?

Hi,

The only way this might work is if the drivers had a radar detector. Then you would have to hope they don't catch on to the fact that there are no police officers nearby and then start driving erratically again.

Something that would help would be a radar trailer such as the Decatur Onsite 350, but this is more in the budget of a municipality than an individual.

Handheld radar guns range from rather expensive to very inexpensive. A good inexpensive model would be the Bushnell Speedster II radar gun. This would never hold up in court, but you can use it and sit at the curb all day recording your findings. Take this into your local police department and they might find it worthy of having a partrol car monitor your neighborhood.

Thanks Ryan,

Well I figured most people have radar detectors these days. We're a main street right off the expressway, so many drivers come off the highway and forget they're now in a resedential area.

What if I was able to produce and transmit K or X frequencies using some kind of radio?

Hi,

Sorry, I'm not aware any device that will produce X or K band through a radio.

You can buy bushnells pretty cheap now, make power pack and hook up two of them and face them in opposite directions. Mount them in some kind of box and make it so they are always on. A solar charger would keep your supply of batteries charged.. You have to be McGuyver on this one as there is no easy way..
