hand held police radar guns

will the escort 9500ix pick up the hand held police radar gun ? i have went past this situation twice, the officer using the gun had it aimed at me and my 9500ix did"nt go off. so i started to beleave that my bird dog was asleep the first time it happened but the second time it happened, i thought well not asleep but dead. it does real good on all but hand held radar guns, could you explaine this to me.Please
