I got pulled over for speeding.
The officer said that I was going 45 in a 35 zone. However, I have some concerns.
The police officer was going in the opposite direction but sandwiched between 8 cars. 4 ahead and 4 behind. There is a 6-8' foot burm between lanes of traffic there.
I admit that I braked and looked at my odometer and it said 40 mph. I had just come down a small incline. However, the police office did not immediately turn on his lights when he U-turned nor even for 3-4 seconds afterwards.
When I told him I thought I was going 40, he asked if I had a radar detector and "what (I) had put between the seats?". It was my phone that was on the seat. I had been listening to a VM but we do not have statutes against cell phone usage in the car.
My question is how reliable might the radar beam be: when facing forward?, in a moving vehicle?, going up an incline? or for a vehicle coming off an incline? Can the radar audio pick up other objects that are going faster than the intended speed zone? How do police radars determine that they have moved between speed zones? GPS?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Radar guns are very accurate when used properly. The only effect that the hills would have would be a slower reading that what you are actually doing. You could have been going 46 or 47 to be clocked at 45. _________________ Best Regards,

| So, is the 4 cars in front of the police radar a factor in determining the speed of an oncoming car? |
