How do you get caught?

Im just curious how the police actually catch you and dish out the fines. I was passing a policeman stood by a road with a hand held gun this morning coming round a long bend and i dont believe i was speeding but as i passed the policeman he followed me with the gun.
Dont actually know what this means but he wasnt in his car and ther wasnt a big camera around, just him and his gun so if i was speeding, how would i get caught i guess? is there a camers built in to the gun or what?

Chances are pretty good that the officer was just gatering information about the average speed of drivers on that particular section of road. None of the handheld police radar guns that we sell offer a camera option. Of course, this does not mean he does not have a different brand of radargun that may have a camera attached.

The State of California requires average traffic speed information over a period of time before they can legally change the speed limit on a section of road. This may be the case in your area, too.
