can radar guns detect 3 cars simultaneously?

I was recently pulled over for speeding. The officer who ticketed me pulled over two more cars at the same time. Not sure how he did this or if it was even possible for him to accurately measure my speed vs. theirs. I know for a fact that he overestimated my speed by at least 10 mph and I was the middle car of the three. My question is, was this even legal or a prescribed usage of a speed detection device?

Hi,

The first thing I have to say is that we do not offer legal advice. You would need to check with your local laws regarding this issue. Police radar guns measure real time speeds. Depending on what model the officer was using, they can lock the speed on one car, record it, and repeat this procedure many times in a matter of seconds. If there are three cars all traveling together in a line, there's a very strong chance that they are all traveling the same speed. If the cars are not traveling at the same speed, it is very easy to determine this with a Handheld Police Radar Gun.
Best Regards,
